Traumatic Growth has often been touted as a desirable outcome of traumatic stress. Our research shows decisively that for most people, traumatic growth is related to worse outcomes, poorer functioning, and guilt and shame.

Stevan E. Hobfoll, Ph.D., ABPP, is a leading authority on stress and resiliency. He has published 14 books (several of which have been translated) and over 300 research papers and book chapters. He has received three lifetime achievement awards in the area of stress and has consulted for some of the world’s largest corporations, armies, and nations. His Five Principles of Mass Casualty Response are the world standard for responding to major disasters and large-scale traumatic events. He has delivered over 50 keynote conference addresses around the world. His lecturing and consulting frequently take him to Asia, Europe, and Australia.
