In her Master’s thesis, Jana Kaiser is focusing on the transgenerational transmission of parenting experiences among single mothers. As part of this working group, two biographical-narrative interviews will be analyzed using the method of deep hermeneutics on two different dates.
Deep hermeneutics is a qualitative research method that focuses on the latent content of the material being studied (such as texts, films, interviews). Unconscious “scenes,” which often only appear “between the lines,” are perceived affectively and can be uncovered through analyzing one’s emotional responses. The goal of the group is to make spontaneous feelings and associations useful for interpreting the material.
Prior knowledge of deep hermeneutics is not required for participation. Students of the SFU locations Vienna, Linz and Berlin can participate.
The sessions will take place ONLINE on the following dates:
- Monday, 7 October 2024 – analysis of an interview in English
- Monday, 14 October 2024 – analysis of an interview in German
- Each session will run from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
As the number of participants is limited and the interview transcripts must be read in advance, we kindly ask that you register in a timely manner by contacting Birgitta Schiller at birgitta.schiller@sfu.ac.at – or via the form below:
