PTS | Current externally funded projects at the Institute for Futures Research in Human Sciences
The Institute for Futures Research in Human Sciences (IFRHS) is a hub for interdisciplinary futures research and one of the most active research institutions under the SFU umbrella. Among other things, it also publishes the European Journal of Futures Research, which ranks among the top ten in this field internationally with an IF of 3.7 impact points. The institute has reason to celebrate following the successful completion of the third-party funded cooperation project ‘Humanism & Technology’, which was also presented at the World Congress of Psychology. The third-party funded cooperation project ‘Future – Quality of Life – Technology using the example of the Austrian healthcare system’ will run until 2029, which also addresses current social issues and takes an interdisciplinary approach. Another highlight is the cooperation with the globally unique ‘Future Museum’ FUTURIUM in Berlin, which is funded by the German Ministry of Science.
Apart from its current projects, the institute, headed by renowned futurologist Reinhold Popp, also has an impressive publication record: since its foundation in 2016, it has published 21 books and 105 articles in scientific journals and anthologies from renowned publishers such as Suhrkamp, Springer, Metzler and Beltz-Juventa. The institute’s director alone has given over 130 scientific lectures during this period.
