The workshop Movement Shadow in Diagnostics & Intervention: Use of Movement in Therapeutic Work with Trauma, held on 23rd January 2025 at SFU Vienna, highlighted the crucial role that body movement plays both in our daily lives and in psychotherapeutic practice.
Led by Dr. Zuzana Vasičáková Očenášová, the session began with a practical set of exercises designed to familiarise participants with the tools of Laban Movement Analysis (LMA). This was followed by a group discussion, allowing students and faculty to share their observations, experiences, and preferences. Dr. Vasičáková Očenášová then went on to explore the significance and subtleties of body movement in psychotherapy, particularly in the treatment of trauma. She also touched upon the transgenerational transmission of certain movement patterns observed in Central and Eastern Europe.
Thanks to its interactive and hands-on format, the workshop left participants feeling inspired and eager to delve deeper into the use of movement in therapeutic work with trauma.
We are currently finalising the details of the next free #outofthebox workshop, which will take place at the end of March 2025. Keep an eye out for more information!
