Sigmund Freud Private University reaccredited

Vienna (OTS) – Important news for SFU: The Board of AQ Austria has decided positively on SFU’s reaccreditation. This concerns all degree programmes in psychotherapy science, psychology, law and dentistry as well as the Bachelor of Human Medicine. All international locations and a new habilitation regulation for the Faculty of Psychology are also accredited. The only exception is the Master’s programme in Human Medicine. Prof. Dr. Dr. Alfred Pritz, SFU Rector: “In the interest of our students and considering the shortage of young doctors, which is becoming increasingly noticeable in Austria, we have already initiated accompanying measures: On the one hand, a resubmission is being prepared in order to enable our Bachelor’s students to transfer to the Master’s programme without delay, if possible. At the same time, appeals against the decision are being examined. For the time being, studies can continue unchanged.”

All students in the Master’s programme in human medicine will be able to complete their studies at SFU. In response to a question in the Austrian Parliament on this matter, the Minister of Science said on 3 October: “In any case, it will be ensured that students will be able to complete the studies they have already started, the Minister emphasised” (Parliamentary Correspondence No. 1064 of 3 October 2022).

Further details will be announced in a press release or at a press conference as soon as the decision has been issued by the authorities and has been thoroughly examined by SFU in terms of content and legal aspects.
