About Stefano De Francesco
Stefano De Francesco completed his Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at SFU Milan in July 2021, where he developed a strong interest in behavioural genetics, particularly twin studies. His research focuses on the genetic and environmental factors influencing psychopathological conditions, temperament, and behaviour.
In 2020, during an internship at the Centre for Behavioural Sciences and Mental Health at the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (Italy’s National Institute of Health), Stefano collaborated with the Italian Twin Registry. This collaboration helped him to complete his thesis on “Etiological and Comorbidity Factors of Internalising and Externalising Symptoms in a Non-Clinical Sample of Children and Adolescents: A Twin Study.”
Currently, Stefano continues to work with the Italian Twin Registry and the Child and Youth Lab at SFU Milan on behavioural genetics projects. In October 2023, he began his PhD at SFU Vienna, where his research will explore genetic and environmental mechanisms behind metacognitive beliefs and their relationship with internalising and externalising symptoms, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Simona Scaini.
