The Vienna Trauma Centre of the Allgemeine Unfallsversicherungsanstalt – known to many Viennese as the Meidling Trauma Hospital – now bears the additional designation “Faculty Clinic of the Sigmund Freud University”.
With this change, the comprehensive teaching and research cooperation between AUVA and SFU is now also represented in the institution’s name.
Both SFU students and hospital patients benefit from the cooperation in such diverse areas as hand surgery, dental trauma, intensive medical rehabilitation, musculoskeletal diseases, osteoporosis, shock and sepsis, shock wave therapy and tissue engineering.
As research and teaching is also done in the field of psyche and trauma, the Faculties of Psychology and Psychotherapy Science are also involved in addition to the Faculty of Medicine.
