Information on the FWF’s Open Access Block Grant from 2024 onwards
We would like to inform you about the new instrument of the FWF’s Open Access Block Grant, which will be used from 2024 onwards. The FWF is a science fund that represents a central institution for the promotion of basic research in Austria. For decades, it has been supporting funded scientists in the most diverse areas of their research.
One essential area of support is the financing of publication costs, which will be changed to new administrative procedures as of January 1, 2024. The planned Open Access Block Grant will be distributed annually to Austrian research institutions and is intended to support the financing of peer-reviewed publications. This change will lead to a simplification in that there will no longer be a need to submit an additional application to the FWF.
