Carolin Demuth studied psychology at the Free University in Berlin and received her Ph.D. from the Univeristy of Osnabrueck in 2008. Since 2013, she has been working at Aalborg University, where she holds a position as Associate Professor and is co-director of the Centre for Cultural Psychology. Since 2015, she is Visiting Professor at SFU Berlin. Her research interest is in Discursive and Narrative Psychology, Cultural Psychology and Qualitative Methods. She is founding member and president of the Association for European Qualitative Researchers in Psychology (EQuiP). She is associate editor of Frontiers in Psychology: Cultural Psychology and serves on various other editorial boards. She is co-editor (together with Meike Watzlawik and Michael Bamberg) of the Cambridge Handbook of Identity.
