Martin Wieser studied psychology and philosophy at the University of Vienna and the Free University of Berlin. From 2010 to 2014, he was a fellow at the interdisciplinary doctoral program “The Natural Sciences in Historical, Philosophical, and Cultural Context” at the Institute of History at the University of Vienna, as well as a lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of Vienna. In 2013, he worked as a research fellow in the graduate program “History and Theory of Psychology” at York University in Toronto, and in 2014 as a visiting scholar at the Humboldt University of Berlin in the Department of History of Science. In 2013, he earned his Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Vienna, and in 2014, his Ph.D. in philosophy. He completed his habilitation in psychology in December 2023 and was appointed to the professorship in General Psychology/History of Psychology in March 2025 at SFU. From April 2016 to March 2020, he was a project collaborator on the research project “Psychology in the Ostmark” at the SFU Berlin; from 2020 to 2024, he served as principal investigator of the follow-up project “Theory, Practice, and Consequences of Operative Psychology.” Since 2026, he is the principal investigator of the FWF-funded research project “Psychotechnics in Austria, 1920–1950.”
