Conference on Ethnic and Religious Minorities in Iran and the Diaspora with a focus on HIAS (Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society)

The objective of the conference is to:

  • Explore the experiences of ethnic and religious minorities in Iran, such as Jews, Yarsani, Christians, Sabeans, Mandaeans, Bahai, Zoroastrians, Baluchis, Kurds, Turks, Gilaki, Arabs, and others
  • To discuss how the migration process affects the identity of religious minorities in the diaspora;
  • Examine concepts such as migration process, religious identity and diaspora;
  • Briefly present the situation of religious minorities in Iran;
  • Discuss the beginning and development of the HIAS project, its history and activities in Austria, and its work to support Jewish and other religious minority Communities in Vienna;
  • To assess the overall situation of Jewish and other religious minorities in Iran today and the role of the HIAS initiative in the future;
  • To further explore the current challenges facing minorities, with a focus on religious minorities in Iran and the key role HIAS can play in this regard.
