SFU at the Memory Studies Association 7th Annual Conference

From 3 to 7 July 2023, Dr. Erzsébet Fanni Tóth (SFU, Institute for Transgenerational Trauma Transfer Research) attended the 7th Annual Conference of the Memory Studies Association at Newcastle University. The Memory Studies Association is a professional association for Memory Studies scholars, as well as those who are active in museums, memorial institutions, archives, the arts and other fields engaged in remembrance. 

The overarching theme of the Conference was “Communities and Change”. During her session, Dr. Tóth talked about the discourses of trauma narration and the matter of the audiences. More specifically, she elaborated on the methodological difficulties of trauma research caught between different academic powers and political structures and expectations.
