Dear students,

An eventful academic year draws to its close. Before you start your well-deserved summer holidays, we invite you to take a brief look back at the many promising developments that have recently been pushed into the background a bit.

The applications for the academic year 2022/23 have exceeded expectations in three faculties; particularly the international programme in Psychology in Vienna, Psychology in Milano and Psychotherapy Science in Vienna are to be mentioned in that regard. Art Therapy is also enjoying a constant quantitative growth.

In terms of quality, there have also been major steps in development, for example attaining the right to habilitate in Psychology or the Master’s degree in “Public International Law” in cooperation with UNITAR, which also manifests the internationalisation at SFU in the Legal Sciences. “Lasers in Dentistry” teaches innovative techniques and technologies in dentistry as part of the new Master Professional format and is highly demanded by international professionals in its first run already.

However, SFU is also experiencing a phase of personnel renewal: both the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Law have a new dean, and in numerous other areas new minds are introducing fresh ideas, perspectives and know-how.

Another positive development are the bridging courses for the Bachelor year of 2023 in Human Medicine which will enable these colleagues to continue their education at SFU. In addition to the proficiency needed for entering the new future Master of Human Medicine, these university courses will also provide valuable additional competences in the intersections of medicine with law, psychology and economics.

So a lot is happening, and for the coming academic year we can expect many more interesting projects, offers and innovations in teaching, research and campus life.

Until then, we wish you a nice and relaxing summer,

Alfred Pritz
