Univ.-Prof. DDr. Ferdinand Rudolf Waldenberger has held a chair in health economics and organizational ethics at Sigmund Freud Private University Vienna since 2018. He worked as a cardiac surgeon in Innsbruck, Salt Lake City, Houston, Leuven, Berlin and Vienna. His specialties were artificial hearts in adults and children and complex thoracic aortic aneurysm surgery at the aortic arch with selective cerebral perfusion. He obtained his Ph.D. at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium and habilitated in Innsbruck in cardiac surgery at the Medical Faculty of the University of Innsbruck. He was Medical Director of the Klagenfurt Hospital and Medical Director of the Kepler University Hospital in Linz, respectively the third and second largest hospitals in Austria. He currently fulfills various teaching assignments and heads the Occupational Medicine Center of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund.
