PSY | Research Assistant at the Faculty of Psychology
Alexander Wendt studied psychology, philosophy and sociology in Heidelberg and Verona. Doctorate in psychology on the theoretical psychology of problem research; currently working on a second doctorate in philosophy on the philosophy of science of phenomenological psychology and a doctorate in the psychology of thought.
The Sigmund Freud Private University is a unique teaching and research center for the discourse of scientific psychology. It strives for a conscientious foundation of empirical research according to the standards of the history of psychology, anthropology and the theory of science, so that it can integrate a variety of perspectives in favor of a holistic view of the human being. This focus on the human being creates a warm atmosphere, because the individual subject is not seen as merely part of a sample or as the bearer of a symptom, but as the dignified center of psychological and psychotherapeutic work. A humanism that recognizes the problems of society as well as the inexhaustibility of the unique individual is the principle here. In this way, the appreciation of fellow human beings and scientific curiosity about their experience and behavior become one.
PTW | University Professor for Psychotherapy Process and Outcome Research
Elke Humer was appointed University Professor for Psychotherapy Process and Outcome Research at SFU Vienna in February 2023. Prior to her time at SFU, she was an associate professor for biopsychosocial health research at the Department of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy at the University of Continuing Education Krems. With over 100 publications in international journals and a large number of successfully completed research projects, she has extensive research expertise. She also works as a psychotherapist (existential analysis and logotherapy) in private practice.
What I find particularly appealing about the SFU is that it is the first university in the world to realise the idea of psychotherapy as an independent scientific profession. The wide range of studies offered, as well as the strong international orientation with outpatient clinics at various locations, make the SFU particularly attractive as a research location.
SFU | Quality Manager
Dominik Drexel studied Social Sciences, Psychology and Conflict Research in Augsburg and was involved in political education, mentoring and student counseling and received his PhD in Psychoanalytic Educational Science. In addition to his teaching activities, he was active in university committees and in the ombudsman office for students at the Faculty of Education at the University of Innsbruck. Since April 2023, he has been supporting the quality management team at SFU.
SFU is characterized by the fact that it was founded as an academic junction of research and healing. For me, being able to support quality management here means: using evaluation and accreditation culture for the development of our own demands of research and teaching, clinic and administration. I hope that a reasonable quality management system understood in this way will not have to ward off any organizational conflicts that may arise, but will be able to deal with them productively.
PTW | Professor of Psychotherapy Science
Prof. Unterrainer holds postdoctoral degrees in Psychology, Theoretical and Experimental Psychiatry, and Religious Studies. In addition to university teaching, he worked as an addiction therapist and supervised numerous clinical research projects in a leading role. In addition to his work at SFU, he directs the Center for Integrative Addiction Research (CIAR) in the Grüner Kreis Association.
What I particularly like about SFU? The international networking – not only in the doctoral program!
JUS | University Assistant for Public Law
Mag. Tisch studied law and worked as a legal officer in the Association of Public Economy and Public Business and as a legal officer in the office of the acting city councilor for innovation, urban planning and transport in Vienna. In the course of this work, she acquired extensive expertise in strategic and political decision-making within the city government in the field of transport and spatial planning. She is currently working on her dissertation in the field of environmental law.
I am particularly attracted by the flexibility of the SFU with regard to the broad range of education and training opportunities and the resulting possibility to take a closer look at individual sub-disciplines in addition to the regular study of law. In addition, SFU offers a wide range of renowned external lecturers who can provide exciting insights from their professional activities.
JUS | University Assistant for European and International Law
Anna Kunz completed her law studies at the University of Passau in Germany, but thanks to a focus on international law she is also able to work in beautiful Vienna. Already during her studies, she developed a great interest in international law and is now focusing on a human rights law topic as part of her dissertation. Since January 2023, she has been working as a university assistant for European and international law at the Faculty of Law at SFU with Professor zu Hohenlohe.
What I appreciate about my work at SFU is the friendly working environment and the beautiful campus, and I especially look forward to the exchange with students in teaching. SFU Vienna stands out for me because of its diverse specializations in different areas of law and the high number of exciting external lecturers.
PTW | Psychotherapist at the Psychotherapeutic Outpatient Clinic for Children and Adolescents
Marion Zimmermann studied psychotherapy and published on the topic of systemic group therapy for children and adolescents. In addition to her work in the outpatient clinic, she works as a psychotherapist with a health insurance contract and is completing further training in infant, child and adolescent psychotherapy.
As a systemic psychotherapist I am very happy to support the team of the SFU Outpatient Clinic for Children and Adolescents with immediate effect!
